About this role

Dyna Robotics seeks a Controls Research Engineer to develop whole-body control systems bridging AI reasoning and motor control for semi-humanoid robots. You'll own the sim-to-real pipeline, integrating learning-based controllers with hardware while optimizing robot performance across dynamic environments.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement whole-body control frameworks for high-DOF semi-humanoid platforms
  • Lead deployment of reinforcement learning and imitation learning controllers onto physical robots
  • Perform system identification and dynamic characterization of actuators and robot systems
  • Build and optimize high-fidelity simulations using MuJoCo, Isaac, or Pinocchio
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on robot platform design and control performance tradeoffs
  • Develop observability tools for real-time control visualization and debugging

What they're looking for

  • Whole-body control (WBC) and operational space control
  • Rigid body kinematics, spatial math (SO(3)/SE(3)), dynamics libraries
  • Reinforcement learning and imitation learning for robotics
  • C++ and Python for real-time, latency-sensitive applications
  • Robot simulation (MuJoCo, Drake, Pinocchio)
  • System identification and dynamic characterization
  • Motor control and embedded systems
  • Hands-on hardware debugging and optimization
