Redwood City, CA$200k–$300kfulltimemidAdded 2 days ago
About this role
Dyna Robotics seeks a State Estimation Engineer to architect the spatial intelligence systems enabling their AI-powered robots to navigate and understand complex environments. As the first dedicated hire in this role, you'll own the full stack of SLAM, sensor fusion, and state estimation—bridging raw sensor data with high-level AI reasoning to achieve industry-leading performance.
What you'll do
- Design and implement indoor SLAM and state estimation systems integrating LiDAR, camera, IMU, and odometry data
- Develop multi-sensor calibration and synchronization pipelines for high-quality ground-truth data collection
- Balance classical geometric approaches with learned dynamics and neural filtering methods
- Collaborate with Perception, Motion Planning, and AI teams to ensure robust robotic motion
- Build diagnostic infrastructure and validation benchmarks for real-world deployment across diverse customer environments
- Own the full tech stack decisions and roadmap as the first engineer in this domain
What they're looking for
- SLAM and Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO)
- Sensor fusion (EKF/UKF, factor graphs, optimization)
- 3D spatial mathematics and SO(3) rotations
- C++ for real-time, low-latency systems
- Python for rapid prototyping and research
- Multi-sensor calibration and time-synchronization
- Production robotics systems experience
- Learned dynamics or neural filtering (bonus)
