Founding Data Engineer (Core Data Platform)

About this role

OpenArt seeks a Founding Data Engineer to build the company's core data platform from scratch, establishing reliable data pipelines, warehouse architecture, and a single source of truth for product and financial metrics. You'll own the entire data foundation supporting product decisions, finance, and leadership strategy at a rapidly scaling AI company.

What you'll do

• Design and build core data pipelines from product events, payments, and internal systems into BigQuery
• Define warehouse architecture, schema design, and core data models for users, subscriptions, revenue, and engagement
• Establish and maintain the single source of truth for product and business metrics across all systems
• Implement data quality checks, validation, and monitoring to ensure data consistency and reliability
• Build reliable reporting layers for leadership and finance teams
• Lead data reconciliation efforts across multiple systems (e.g., Stripe, internal tools, analytics platforms)

• Data engineering and ETL/ELT design
• SQL and Python
• Data modeling and warehouse architecture
• BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift
• dbt or similar transformation tools
• Workflow orchestration (Airflow, Prefect)
• Financial and subscription data experience
• Data quality testing and validation
