We’re hiring a Residential Building Designer at our Corporate Headquarters in Columbia, MO and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction.

The Residential Building Designer will help shape its direction from the ground up. As a founding voice, you’ll help establish team workflows, guide product selections, define project delivery standards, bring emerging design trends to life, and put new technologies to work in residential design and construction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage EquipmentShare’s extensive library of proprietary residential plans, customizing designs to meet client needs and site conditions.
  • Own the technical development, coordination, and drawing of permit-ready, buildable construction documents.
  • Help shape home designs alongside our growing team of Interior Designers and Visualization Specialists.
  • Coordinate HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance requirements with the overall building.
  • Partner with our Licensed Architects and Structural Engineers on professional review and projects requiring signed and sealed documents.
  • Respond to field questions and incorporate coordinated clarifications into construction documents.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

    • Current knowledge of industry trends, technology, building codes and regulations
    • Ability to work well with a team - in person and remotely
    • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
    • Ability to apply a sense of style to create aesthetically pleasing and engaging architecture
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent time management skills
    • The ability to diagram designs digitally and by hand

    Education and Experience:

    • A Bachelor's degree in architecture, drafting or design
    • At least 3 years of residential building design and construction documentation experience, including adapting existing residential plans.
    • Certified Professional Building Designer (CPBD) preferred, but not required at hire. Candidates may bring demonstrated capability in original residential design or develop it within the role. Candidates without certification must be willing to pursue it, ideally within 18–24 months, while developing the skills needed to lead residential design work
    • Experience using Twinmotion and/or Unreal Engine for architectural visualization is a plus, but not required

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion
