All work is performed in accordance with approved hedging strategies, risk limits, policies, and procedures.
The successful candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and accurate in a time sensitive environment. The role partners closely with internal teams and external counterparties, brokers, and service providers.
The role improves hedging processes and reporting through automation and data quality enhancements. It also analyzes derivative valuations, market risk, sensitivities, profit and loss, hedge performance, and new product or bespoke-structure proposals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Execute approved derivative hedging transactions within delegated authority and manage the trade lifecycle, including pre-trade checks, trade capture, confirmation, reconciliation, settlement coordination, and issue resolution.
- Serve as a primary contact for trade execution and support matters with internal teams, counterparties, brokers, and service providers.
- Monitor derivative positions, market data, and operational deadlines to support effective hedge execution, timely processing, and adherence to established controls.
- Prepare, validate, and distribute recurring hedging, risk, and management reports; identify issues, control gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Analyze portfolio exposures, market sensitivities, profit and loss, hedge performance, broker quotes, trade economics, and valuation outputs to support execution, risk oversight, and reporting.
- Support analysis of bespoke indices, payoff structures, and new products, including derivative characteristics, hedging implications, operational readiness, and reporting needs.
- Use Python, SQL, Excel, and related tools to automate workflows, improve data quality, and enhance reporting and trade support.
- Lead or contribute to enhancements of hedging processes, trading and risk systems, and reporting, including requirements, testing, implementation, and procedure updates.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on hedging processes and trade workflows, maintain process documentation, and support ad hoc business, audit, regulatory, and risk management requests.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not have formal people leadership responsibilities but may provide guidance, mentorship, or subject matter expertise to others.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, particularly when managing trade details, reports, reconciliations, and time-sensitive deliverables.
- Ability to follow established processes and controls, recognize exceptions, and escalate issues promptly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders, counterparties, and service providers.
- Ability to make sound, timely decisions within defined authority limits while managing recurring workflows, reporting, and controls in a fast paced, market sensitive, deadline driven environment.
- Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to prioritize competing requests, manage concurrent responsibilities, and follow through.
- Analytical and quantitative aptitude, including an understanding of derivative pricing, market risk, portfolio exposures, sensitivities, profit and loss, hedge performance, and valuation concepts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset, including the ability to identify opportunities for automation and reporting improvements.
- Ability to work independently within established procedures and collaborate effectively across business, investment, risk, technology, and operations teams.
- Strong interest in capital markets, derivatives, hedging, portfolio management, and ongoing professional development.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required; working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, such as SQL Server, is preferred.
- Familiarity with using Bloomberg or comparable platforms for investment analysis, portfolio management, and reporting.
- High standards of professionalism, confidentiality, accountability, and ethical conduct.
