Data Platform Engineer

About this role

Figma seeks a Data Platform Engineer to build foundational ML and data systems powering next-generation AI products. You'll design scalable infrastructure for model serving, feature pipelines, and self-serve analytics while enabling Data Science and product teams to leverage AI effectively.

What you'll do

• Lead development of Figma's AI data agent for self-serve analytics, including prompt processing and usage tracking
• Own and evolve the ML and data platform including model serving, feature pipelines, and workflow orchestration
• Build product-facing data systems that integrate models and data into Figma's core experience
• Create platform tooling for Data Science teams to deploy, iterate, and operate models in production
• Design infrastructure for AI-assisted and natural language interfaces to analytics
• Drive cross-functional initiatives aligning data contracts and system design across teams

What they're looking for

• Python or similar programming language
• ML infrastructure design (model serving, feature pipelines, orchestration)
• End-to-end production ML systems (training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring)
• Scalable system architecture and distributed systems
• Cross-functional collaboration and data product design
• Cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
• Modern data stack (Snowflake, dbt, Dagster)
• LLMs, RAG systems, or prompt engineering
