Mechanical Engineer, Battery

About this role

Figure, an AI robotics company developing humanoid robots, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design, prototype, and test battery systems for their autonomous robots. The role involves CAD design, thermal/electrical analysis, supplier coordination, and cross-functional collaboration to bring battery solutions from concept through production.

What you'll do

• Design battery-related components in 3D CAD meeting thermal, electrical, structural, and durability requirements
• Build and test prototypes to validate assembly, functionality, and performance
• Create detailed 2D drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards
• Design test setups and conduct battery testing and analysis
• Partner with supply chain team on supplier selection and part procurement
• Inspect first articles, build test stands, and support ongoing robot development

• 3D CAD software (expert level, preferably CATIA V6)
• Mechanical design and prototyping
• Battery pack and cell-level design experience
• Simulation and FEA analysis
• GD&T and technical drawing standards
• Laser welding knowledge
• Problem-solving and documentation
• Project management and supplier coordination
