Figure, an AI robotics company in San Jose, is seeking a Service Tooling Engineer to design and develop specialized tools, fixtures, and equipment that enable safe operation and maintenance of humanoid robots in the field. You'll combine mechanical engineering expertise with practical problem-solving, working directly with service teams to deliver durable, user-friendly solutions.
What you'll do
- Design tooling and fixtures in 3D CAD that meet load, ergonomic, and durability requirements
- Prototype and test designs for fit, function, and usability by field teams
- Create GD&T-compliant 2D technical drawings for fabrication and vendors
- Coordinate with internal machine shops and external contractors for manufacturing
- Collaborate with Service and Operations teams to understand needs and refine designs
- Validate field performance and improve tooling based on real-world deployment feedback

- 3D CAD software proficiency
- Mechanical design and fixture design
- Prototyping and hands-on fabrication
- GD&T and technical drawing standards (ASME Y14.5)
- Knowledge of fabrication methods (sheet metal, welding, machining, 3D printing)
