About this role

Join Firecrawl as a Product Engineer for Search, bridging research and shipping by owning the developer-facing search API end-to-end. You'll translate retrieval and ranking improvements into products developers love, focusing on latency, API ergonomics, and seamless integration while working in a fast-moving 26-person team.

What you'll do

  • Ship search improvements from research into production features developers notice and use
  • Own the search API end-to-end including response format, latency, error handling, and pagination
  • Dogfood the API relentlessly by building with it and monitoring user feedback across GitHub, Discord, and support channels
  • Collaborate with Search/IR and RL Research Engineers to translate technical work into product decisions
  • Run fast product experiments with hypotheses, instrumentation, and rapid iteration cycles
  • Raise the bar on developer experience by fixing API inconsistencies, error messages, and documentation gaps

What they're looking for

  • 3+ years applied RL, ML engineering, or model training in production systems
  • API design and developer experience optimization
  • Full-stack shipping capability from design through deployment
  • Search systems understanding (retrieval, ranking, semantic vs. keyword search)
  • Production system operation and latency optimization
  • Product thinking and technical decision-making
  • Python or backend programming
  • Data-driven experimentation and rapid iteration

Benefits

  • Salary: $180,000–$290,000/year (U.S.-based, adjusted for cost of living internationally)
  • Equity: Up to 0.15%
  • Flexible location: San Francisco (hybrid) or Remote (Americas, UTC-3 to UTC-10)
  • Full-time role at a fast-growing infrastructure company (8-figure ARR)
  • Work with a small, technical team shipping essential AI infrastructure
  • High autonomy and ownership of core product
