AI Field Engineer - AI Natives

About this role

Fireworks seeks an AI Field Engineer to embed with frontier AI companies, building production-grade generative AI systems and deployments. You'll spend most of your time coding POCs, MVPs, and integrations while translating customer challenges into product improvements and holding strategic conversations.

What you'll do

• Build end-to-end POCs and MVPs alongside customer engineering teams within their infrastructure and constraints
• Architecture inference foundations for AI-native products, including load testing and performance tuning against realistic traffic patterns
• Guide customers on model selection, fine-tuning strategies (SFT, DPO, RFT), and evaluation frameworks for production metrics
• Deploy and validate new model families on inference frameworks (vLLM, SGLang), optimizing quantization and serving patterns
• Lead discovery conversations to understand customer pain points and translate them into technical and product solutions
• Embed on-site with high-velocity accounts, serving as a peer engineer while maintaining executive-level strategic discussions
