About this role

Fluidstack seeks an experienced mechanical engineer to oversee cooling and HVAC systems at a rapidly expanding AI data center in Buffalo. You'll own thermal operations across mission-critical infrastructure, drive procedural excellence in a live construction environment, and help establish operational standards as the company scales to 100+ GW capacity.

What you'll do

  • Operate and troubleshoot cooling systems (chillers, cooling towers, CRACs, CDUs, pumps) in 24/7 mission-critical environments
  • Develop and execute mechanical operating procedures (MOPs) and emergency protocols while maintaining safety compliance
  • Monitor building management systems for thermal performance and respond to alarms and capacity issues
  • Review design submittals and P&IDs, and support construction projects and capacity upgrades from operations perspective
  • Coordinate third-party contractors and maintain accurate as-builts and documentation
  • Ensure thermal precision and reliability for AI workloads

  • Hands-on mechanical systems troubleshooting in data center environments
  • P&ID and technical drawing interpretation
  • Chiller and cooling tower operation and maintenance
  • Direct liquid cooling and CDU experience
  • Procedure writing (MOPs, EOPs, AOPs)
  • LOTO, confined-space, and refrigerant handling
  • BMS monitoring and alarm response
  • Contractor coordination and safety management
