About this role

Zipline is seeking a Field Systems Engineer to troubleshoot and improve the performance of their autonomous delivery drone systems, specifically Platform 2. This role involves investigating complex failures, developing solutions, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability and safety. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in at least one relevant discipline (Avionics, Perception, Powertrain, etc.) and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Investigate field issues using telemetry, logs, and physical analysis.
  • Lead problem resolution from detection to implementation.
  • Develop tools for identifying degraded system behavior.
  • Translate field experience into engineering requirements.
  • Develop troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
