About this role

Zipline is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to own the full lifecycle of structural and mechanical subsystems for their autonomous delivery aircraft. This hands-on role involves everything from initial concept and design to testing, production, and ongoing maintenance, with a focus on ensuring safety, reliability, and scalability. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver comfortable working across various teams to deliver impactful, high-performance hardware.

What you'll do

  • Design and deliver structural or mechanical subsystems.
  • Conduct trade studies, tolerance stacks, and failure mode analysis.
  • Create CAD assemblies, detailed drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Lead supplier selection and qualification.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Systems, Production, and Test teams.
  • Translate prototypes into designs for medium-volume production.
