Zipline is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their New Products team and contribute to the creation of next-generation drone delivery systems. This role encompasses the entire mechanical subsystem lifecycle, from initial concept to production release, with a strong emphasis on hands-on prototyping and testing. The ideal candidate will be a practical problem-solver comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration, driving designs that balance performance, weight, reliability, and cost.

What you'll do

  • Own mechanical subsystem delivery from concept to production.
  • Translate mission requirements into concrete designs and verification plans.
  • Produce drawings, BOMs, and supplier specifications.
  • Drive test campaigns, including fixture design and data analysis.
  • Utilize FEA to optimize designs for mass, stiffness, and life.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and be the mechanical authority in design reviews.
