About this role

Formic seeks a Robotics Field Service Engineer to maintain and troubleshoot deployed robotic manufacturing systems across customer facilities in the Los Angeles area. You'll diagnose failures, perform preventative maintenance, and drive uptime for industrial automation solutions, working directly with customers in fast-paced production environments.

What you'll do

  • Diagnose and resolve robotic system failures on-site and remotely to restore production quickly
  • Perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on robotic manufacturing cells
  • Provide technical support and training to customer operators and maintenance teams
  • Document service activities, maintenance logs, and root cause analysis in CMMS systems
  • Identify recurring failure patterns and escalate systemic risks for improvement
  • Coordinate field scheduling and support across customers, vendors, and internal teams

What they're looking for

  • Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, PLC, and robotic control systems
  • Reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings
  • CMMS platform experience for maintenance tracking
  • Industrial safety compliance and LOTO procedures
  • Written and verbal communication for technical documentation
  • Experience with 6-axis robots (Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, ABB, Universal Robots) preferred
  • Familiarity with palletizing, case packing, or conveyor systems preferred
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred
