System Engineer

About this role

Freedom Technology Solutions Groups seeks an experienced System Architect to lead the VDI team and serve as subject matter expert on Azure Virtual Desktop implementations. This role focuses on deploying, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise VDI solutions while mentoring junior team members and ensuring security compliance for internal and Air Force Major Command environments.

What you'll do

• Implement and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) infrastructure with focus on user functionality and application security
• Lead team efforts in continuous infrastructure reviews, security patching, and software updates
• Create and execute PowerShell scripts and deployment automation for AVD operations
• Manage AVD resources, OS images, host pools, and monthly patch rollouts
• Troubleshoot AVD issues and mentor less experienced colleagues on technical problem resolution
• Support Windows Zero Touch Implementation (ZTI) processes and risk/issue mitigation tracking
