Additive Manufacturing Development Engineer
About this role
Freeform seeks an Additive Manufacturing Development Engineer to drive the advancement of metal 3D printing technology for industrial-scale production. You'll own projects end-to-end—from customer design through printing, quality analysis, and delivery—while collaborating with cross-functional teams to automate and optimize their autonomous printing factory.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to enhance printing system automation and production capabilities
- Execute all stages of print production including design for additive manufacturing recommendations, file preparation, printing, and quality control
- Analyze in-situ sensor data and post-print part quality to identify improvement opportunities
- Apply first-principles engineering to solve technical problems and provide recommendations to stakeholders
- Document requirements, procedures, and action items to ensure alignment across internal and external teams
- Own customer projects from concept through testing and delivery
