About this role
Freeform seeks a Mechanical Engineer to develop and deploy precision mechanical systems for advanced metal 3D printing machines. You'll own the full lifecycle of custom hardware—from design and assembly to alignment and testing—while scaling manufacturing processes and integrating high-power lasers, motion control, and imaging systems.
What you'll do
- Build, assemble, align, and deploy complex precision mechanical systems
- Scale in-house manufacturing processes from prototype to volume production
- Integrate precision components including lasers, motion control, and high-speed cameras
- Create mechanical drawings to GD&T standards and establish alignment procedures
- Perform optical performance testing and characterization with defined criteria
- Collaborate with process, electrical, and software teams on system architecture
