About this role

Freeform seeks a new graduate process engineer to help develop advanced metal 3D printing processes by analyzing in situ data, conducting experiments, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize additive manufacturing technology. You'll work on complex multi-physics problems and support rapid process iteration using machine learning and data analysis.

What you'll do

  • Analyze large in situ data sets to understand physical mechanisms of the metal additive printing process
  • Assist in experiment execution, data analysis, and process optimization on metal additive systems
  • Perform post-build metrology and material property analysis including tensile strength and microstructure
  • Track and generate quality metrics for printed parts such as dimensional accuracy and defect distribution
  • Support development and implementation of tool qualification procedures
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and simulations engineers on rapid process improvements
