Cybersecurity Engineer

About this role

A self-directed Cybersecurity Engineer needed to join a small security operations team in Chicago, designing and implementing security controls across enterprise infrastructure while managing key security tools and driving strategic improvements. This hybrid role requires 5+ years of experience and involves threat assessment, incident response support, and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen the firm's overall security posture.

What you'll do

• Design and implement security controls for endpoints, networks, cloud, identity, and software development lifecycles
• Lead security projects from planning through execution with stakeholder communication and documentation
• Configure and optimize security tools including SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management platforms
• Build automation for threat detection, alerting, incident response, and security reporting
• Oversee penetration testing and social engineering exercises with remediation tracking
• Support incident response efforts and conduct post-incident analysis
