About this role

General Matter seeks a Materials & Process Engineer to lead metallic material selection, characterization, and qualification for uranium enrichment hardware. You'll bridge materials science and hardware development, owning the journey from material selection through production while collaborating with design, manufacturing, and test teams on demanding, mission-critical systems.

What you'll do

  • Select, characterize, and qualify metallic materials across hardware platforms
  • Develop mechanical, physical, and thermal property data to support design decisions
  • Define and improve manufacturing processes including heat treatment and welding
  • Conduct root-cause failure analysis using fractography, metallography, and mechanical testing
  • Establish characterization and inspection methods to control quality and scalability
  • Partner with design, manufacturing, and test engineering on complex materials challenges
