Software Engineer (Hardware Test & Automation)

About this role

General Matter seeks a Software Engineer to develop and maintain testing automation infrastructure for hardware validation and system integration. You'll design Python-based automation tools, manage Hardware-in-the-Loop testbeds, build telemetry systems, and support continuous integration pipelines for a mission-driven nuclear fuel production company.

What you'll do

• Design and implement modular Python automation software for manufacturing and design verification
• Develop automation tools for test articles, equipment, instrumentation, and production documentation systems
• Enable test execution across Hardware-in-the-Loop and virtualized simulation environments
• Create algorithms to analyze test data and verify compliance with acceptance criteria
• Build tools to improve software deployment, test execution frequency, and data analysis reliability
• Develop and manage telemetry systems for development environments with performance monitoring

• Python, C, or C++ software development
• Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) testbed experience
• Linux and Windows operating systems
• Test automation and acceptance test procedures
• Version control and configuration management
