About this role

General Matter seeks a Tooling Engineer to design and build critical manufacturing infrastructure for nuclear fuel enrichment systems. You'll develop custom tooling, jigs, and fixtures from prototyping through production scale, collaborating with engineering and operations teams in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

What you'll do

  • Design custom tooling, jigs, and fixtures using CAD software for rapid prototyping and large-scale production
  • Oversee fabrication, assembly, wiring, and validation of tooling and test systems
  • Ensure designs meet safety, ergonomic, and operational requirements
  • Collaborate with machinists, welders, engineers, and technicians to optimize designs
  • Troubleshoot production tool issues and support manufacturing operations

What they're looking for

  • 3D CAD proficiency (Solidworks, CATIA, NX, or similar)
  • Tooling and fixture design (3+ years experience)
  • GD&T and machining processes knowledge
  • Mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Additive manufacturing for rapid tooling

  • Ergonomic design
  • Fast-paced problem-solving and resourcefulness
