About this role

Geneva Trading seeks a Mid-Level Systems Engineer to optimize and maintain their high-performance global trading infrastructure in Chicago. You'll manage Linux systems, low-latency networking, and automation while ensuring the proprietary trading platform remains resilient and performant under demanding market conditions.

What you'll do

  • Provision and maintain high-performance Linux environments (Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu)
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code pipelines using Ansible, Terraform, or SaltStack
  • Fine-tune BIOS, kernel settings, and network interfaces for ultra-low latency
  • Collaborate with Network Engineering on high-bandwidth trading paths
  • Monitor system health and latency metrics using Prometheus, Grafana, or Telegraf
  • Deploy and troubleshoot enterprise bare-metal servers (Dell, HP, Supermicro)

  • Advanced Linux kernel and system internals knowledge
  • Python or Bash scripting for automation
  • Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Terraform, SaltStack)
  • Server architecture (CPU pinning, NUMA, PCIe optimization)
  • System performance profiling and tuning
  • Monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Telegraf)
  • Low-latency networking (Solarflare/Mellanox NICs)
  • Crisis management and stakeholder communication
