About this role

Ginkgo is seeking an Automation Engineer to support their deployed lab automation systems through remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. This role bridges customer needs with internal engineering teams, requiring hands-on expertise in lab automation instrumentation, software control systems, and independent problem-solving during evening shift coverage.

What you'll do

• Own and manage Ginkgo's Autonomous Lab during evening hours, diagnosing errors and performing instrument maintenance
• Execute remote recovery efforts for customers, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions for system failures
• Investigate complex software-hardware integration issues and drive reliability improvements
• Develop automation scripts and configuration templates to standardize deployments
• Create and maintain deployment playbooks covering setup, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing
• Author SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and training materials; manage preventive maintenance programs
