About this role
Ginkgo Bioworks seeks an Automation Engineer 2 to support their lab automation systems on an overnight shift in Boston. You'll troubleshoot deployed automation equipment, manage remote customer recoveries, and develop standardized deployment processes while serving as the primary owner of their Autonomous Lab during graveyard hours (10PM-6AM).
What you'll do
- Oversee Ginkgo's Autonomous Lab during overnight shifts, resolving errors and handling maintenance and user tickets independently
- Guide remote troubleshooting with customers, diagnosing failures and implementing corrective actions
- Investigate complex software-hardware integration issues and develop improvements to system reliability
- Create automation scripts and configuration templates to standardize deployments across teams
- Develop and refine deployment playbooks covering setup, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing
- Author and maintain SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and training documentation
