AI Engineer

About this role

GitLab seeks an AI Engineer to build internal AI-powered solutions that drive business impact across Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support. You'll own projects end-to-end—from diagnosing real workflow problems and validating AI as the solution, through rapid prototyping and deployment—while combining strong engineering fundamentals with systems thinking and measurable business outcomes.

What you'll do

• Diagnose business problems and map workflows to confirm whether AI is the right solution before development
• Own AI initiatives end-to-end from stakeholder discovery through implementation, deployment, and iteration
• Design and ship AI-powered solutions quickly, delivering prototypes that reduce bottlenecks and improve organizational flow
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing systems using APIs, orchestration tools, and modern AI platforms
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand constraints and align on outcomes
• Define and track success through business metrics, flow metrics, and feedback loops
