About this role
GitLab seeks a Cloud Cost Utilization SRE to make cloud spending transparent and actionable across infrastructure. You'll partner with Engineering, Finance, and Product to build systems for cost tracking, resource tagging, billing optimization, and financial accountability across AWS and GCP.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain cloud resource tagging strategies across GCP and AWS for accurate cost attribution
- Develop billing data pipelines using the FOCUS specification to normalize multi-cloud cost information
- Build cost anomaly detection, forecasting, and alerting systems for engineering teams
- Integrate cost signals into observability stacks including Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and ELK
- Support cloud cost forecasting with Finance and Engineering leadership for budgeting
- Act as subject matter expert on cloud cost attribution, tagging strategy, and FOCUS adoption
