About this role
Motive is seeking a Backline Support Engineer to own technical escalations for IoT hardware, embedded firmware, and related software services across their fleet management platform. You'll perform end-to-end debugging across hardware, firmware, and cloud services, leading investigations into critical field issues and driving root cause analyses that span the entire device stack.
What you'll do
- Debug and resolve complex device issues by analyzing hardware logs, firmware behavior, and service-side signals
- Perform deep diagnostics using device logs, serial output, telemetry, and vehicle data (CAN/J1939, OBD-II)
- Triage issues to determine whether problems originate from hardware, firmware, or software components
- Reproduce and validate issues in lab and controlled test fleet environments before broad rollout
- Lead root cause analyses and deliver actionable remediation steps across hardware/firmware/software boundaries
- Mentor support teams and document troubleshooting flows to prevent future escalations
