About this role
Who we are
We're on a mission to bring joy to the business of events. Weddings, galas, festivals... the moments that people remember the most are put on by dozens of small businesses working together behind the scenes to bring that experience to life. These businesses have historically run off of software that doesn't meet their needs, spreadsheets, or even memory.
Goodshuffle Pro runs the end-to-end operations of event rental companies — invoicing, payment processing, inventory management, and the logistics of getting a warehouse worth of equipment to a venue and back at precisely the right time. Rental companies are one piece of everything that goes into an event, and we're changing how the whole industry operates together.
Some of us are event nerds, some of us are tech nerds, and some of us are both — but all of us are passionate problem-solvers who care about helping our users succeed. Our values describe how we work:
Sincerely Care — about yourself, about your team, about your work.
Speak Up — liberally share knowledge, seek to solve, recognize and appreciate.
Learn from Everything — listen intently, stay curious. Don't fear failure; fear not learning.
Show Up — come prepared, execute diligently, honor accountability.
What you'll do
You'll own the day-to-day operations of an engineering team, while building product alongside them. This is not a people-manager role, but there is a clear path forward to managing on a timeline of months, not years.
Build products that matter. We ship work that solves real customer problems, not features. As the Lead, you’ll own the standard the team runs discovery by. In your first few months, you'll visit warehouses, talk directly with dozens of vendors, and get to know the mechanics of how our industry operates across markets. Understanding the people you build for is essential in knowing what to build.
Own how we build it. Every line of code your team pushes, every technical decision, and every bug introduced you own. You'll raise the team's standard for solution architecture and performance, review technical design before work starts, and own the team's throughput. Team cycle time trends downward because of you, and the pace of shipping increases.
Raise the AI ceiling. AI is changing daily, and we are changing just as fast. You will help to smooth the jagged edge of AI through structure, automation, and new technologies. You understand the importance of clear documentation and focused training on your team, and follow through on making it happen.
Build systems our customers rely on. Our users rely on us to run every aspect of their business. You'll own the team's SLAs, support rotations, system performance, and uptime targets. You'll lead the response to incidents and step in yourself the moment something slips. All production components will have dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and every member of the team will be aware of where to go when they need it.
Who you are
You lead by example. You hold yourself to an incredibly high standard — not just with your technical work, but with your communication, organization, curiosity, and seek-to-solve mindset.
You make your team better, and you measure your success that way. You understand where each person is struggling, and you coach them through it rather than doing it for them. You stress-test concepts, workflows, and new technologies, and then roll them out in a way that lands with your team.
You hold a lot of context across people, projects, and systems. You catch the things that other people miss, and surface them before they become a problem.
You help the team through challenges. You notice friction early and take time to understand the various perspectives and options. When the problem grows too large, you escalate it early.
