Construction project engineer

About this role

Gotion Inc. seeks a Construction Project Engineer to oversee civil and infrastructure development for a new battery manufacturing facility in Illinois. You'll manage the complete construction lifecycle—from site selection through final acceptance—ensuring compliance with building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

What you'll do

• Oversee civil works, equipment foundations, pipelines, cleanrooms, and hazardous material facility construction
• Coordinate with design institutes, EPC contractors, general contractors, and suppliers to resolve conflicts and scheduling issues
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, IBC, UL9540/9540A standards and obtain necessary approvals
• Manage utilities infrastructure including water, power, HVAC, compressed air, and fire protection systems
• Establish and enforce EHS management systems to maintain site safety and environmental compliance
• Participate in geotechnical investigation, design review, and final project acceptance processes

• Civil or mechanical/electrical engineering background
• Industrial plant or battery factory construction experience
• Knowledge of cleanroom and hazardous material area requirements
• U.S. building codes, electrical, and fire protection regulations
• Project management and cross-functional coordination
• Problem-solving and conflict resolution
• Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin and English
• Understanding of permit and approval processes
