Machine Learning Engineer

About this role

Gotion seeks a Machine Learning Engineer to develop innovative ML models for battery and energy storage applications at their Manteno, IL facility. You'll partner with battery scientists and R&D teams to design cutting-edge algorithms addressing real-world challenges in electrochemical systems and advanced materials.

What you'll do

• Design and implement novel machine learning and deep learning models for battery research applications
• Prototype and evaluate advanced algorithms including Transformers, LLMs, and hybrid architectures
• Conduct experimentation, benchmarking, and ablation studies on ML models
• Collaborate with battery scientists to integrate physical constraints and domain knowledge into models
• Document research findings and present technical outcomes to teams
• Monitor ML research community advances and integrate innovations into development

• Machine learning model architecture and design
• Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.)
• Deep learning and algorithm development
• Time-series and scientific data analysis
• Learning theory (regularization, generalization, loss functions, evaluation metrics)
• Experimentation and benchmarking methodologies
• Scientific communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Battery, materials, or energy domain expertise (desirable)

• Base salary $80,000–$90,000 plus 15% bonus
