Mechanical Design Engineer Intern (Spring)
About this role
H3X Technologies seeks a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern to support development of high-performance electric motor systems for aerospace, defense, and marine applications. You'll own significant design responsibilities across the full product lifecycle—from requirements and CAD design through prototype builds and testing—working in a fast-paced, small engineering team.
What you'll do
- Establish requirements, conceptualize designs, and present at concept and critical design reviews
- Design parts and assemblies in SolidWorks; perform structural, thermal, modal, and fluid analyses using hand calculations and FEA/CFD
- Generate ASME-compliant engineering drawings with GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
- Create Bills of Materials, source hardware, and collaborate with technicians on prototype fabrication
- Develop Design Validation Plans and support testing, interpreting results and recommending design improvements
- Integrate subsystems into full systems and support production builds and system-level tests
