Backend Engineer II

About this role

HackerRank seeks a Backend Engineer II to design and maintain scalable server-side systems supporting millions of developers on their skills assessment platform. You'll architect databases, build APIs, and optimize performance for a high-traffic application while collaborating across teams in a hybrid Santa Clara role.

What you'll do

• Design and build efficient, reusable backend code for product features and enhancements
• Develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs for front-end and external client integration
• Design and optimize SQL and NoSQL database schemas for performance and data integrity
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive performance optimizations across the stack
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and design teams to translate requirements into solutions
