About this role
Hadrian seeks an Automation Controls Engineer to design and deploy end-to-end control systems for robotic and CNC manufacturing cells serving aerospace and defense customers. You'll own everything from PLC/robot programming and electrical panel design through commissioning and production handoff, working alongside manufacturing and software teams on fast-paced projects.
What you'll do
- Design controls architecture for robotic, CNC, and tooling cells from concept through run-off testing
- Develop and deploy PLC applications on Siemens or similar platforms with reusable standards and libraries
- Commission multi-axis motion systems including servos, VFDs, steppers, and integrated sensors/safety devices
- Specify and design electrical panels; architect industrial networks using EtherCAT, PROFINET, and OPC UA
- Build operator HMIs and conduct risk assessments per ISO 13849 standards
- Perform floor commissioning, troubleshoot issues, and mentor technicians on best practices

- Electrical panel design (NFPA 79, UL 508A)
- Industrial networking (EtherCAT, PROFINET, OPC UA)
- Sensor and safety device integration
- Machine vision systems
- HMI development (Ignition, WinCC)
