Software Engineer, AI Platform

About this role

Handshake seeks a Software Engineer to build foundational infrastructure for AI agents operating at scale across their career platform. You'll architect core orchestration systems, establish agentic development standards, and ship agent-powered features in collaboration with ML and product teams.

What you'll do

• Design and build agent orchestration layer including tool use, memory, and multi-step reasoning systems
• Create evaluation, observability, and reliability frameworks for safe, auditable agent behavior at scale
• Establish engineering standards for agentic development across platform teams
• Partner with ML, product, and platform engineers to ship agent features from infrastructure to production
• Architect distributed systems for developer experience supporting 20M+ users and 1M+ employers

What they're looking for

• Backend engineering (2-4 years)
• NodeJS, TypeScript, and/or Python
• Distributed systems design at scale
• LLM orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar)
• Agent architectures and multi-step reasoning
• Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Terraform
• Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong communication and cross-functional alignment
