Electric Motor Design Engineer

About this role

Heart Aerospace seeks an Electric Motor Design Engineer to develop high-voltage electric motors for the ES-30 hybrid-electric aircraft. You'll lead motor design, testing, and certification while collaborating across propulsion, thermal, and airframe teams to deliver an integrated propulsion unit.

What you'll do

• Design and develop high-voltage electric motors for hybrid aircraft propulsion systems
• Lead system-level testing including motor and propeller test stand execution
• Perform motor topology trade studies and electromagnetic optimization
• Create 2D/3D CAD models using tools like Siemens NX
• Collaborate with suppliers on integrated and certifiable subsystems
• Conduct design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA)

What they're looking for

• High-voltage, high-power electric motor design (2+ years experience)
• Permanent magnet motor design and analysis
• Motor simulation software (JMAG, Ansys Maxwell, RMxpert, MotorCAD)
• CAD modeling and design optimization
• Test stand integration and instrumentation
• Motor manufacturing processes (winding, lamination, varnishing)
• Mechanical engineering and materials science
• Aerospace certification standards (EASA, FAA)
