About this role

Heart Aerospace seeks a Power Electronics Engineer to lead the design and integration of hybrid-electric propulsion systems for their 30-passenger regional aircraft. As a Responsible Engineer, you'll oversee the complete development lifecycle of inverters, motors, high-voltage systems, and batteries while coordinating across mechanical, thermal, electrical, and flight control domains to achieve certification.

What you'll do

  • Design and integrate power electronics and high-voltage electrical systems for hybrid aircraft propulsion
  • Lead system-level testing including motor and propeller test stands with full ownership of fabrication and commissioning
  • Perform topology selection trade studies and electrical system modeling using digital twin simulations
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure delivery of integrated, certifiable subsystems
  • Execute certification activities for the hybrid propulsion unit
  • Optimize hybrid mission profiles through high-fidelity modeling and analysis

What they're looking for

  • High voltage power electronics design (800V+) including inverters and converters
  • HV filter design, grounding analysis, and protective device coordination
  • Propulsion/powertrain test stand integration and instrumentation
  • Circuit design tools (Altium, Cadence) and SPICE simulation
  • Gate driver design and embedded systems (C/C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink, PLECS)
  • Avionics protocols (ARINC, CAN, Ethernet)
  • Microcontroller and firmware development
  • Laboratory equipment operation (oscilloscopes, network analyzers)

Benefits

  • Base pay: $124,000–$216,000 USD
