Propulsion Test Engineer

About this role

Heart Aerospace is hiring a Propulsion Test Engineer to lead testing and validation of the ES-30 hybrid-electric aircraft's powertrain system. You'll design test stands, execute certification campaigns, and collaborate across teams to verify performance and safety of the electric propulsion unit and its subsystems.

What you'll do

• Lead system-level powertrain testing for motors, inverters, gearboxes, and propellers
• Design and commission hybrid-electric test stands, HIL simulations, and digital twins with instrumentation and data acquisition
• Plan and execute test campaigns for performance, safety, and certification compliance
• Analyze test data, prepare reports, and provide feedback to design teams
• Coordinate with suppliers and external labs for component-level testing support
• Support environmental, endurance, and fault-injection testing for certification readiness

• Powertrain and propulsion test engineering
• Hybrid-electric or electric system design and operation
• Data acquisition systems (dSPACE, NI, Dewesoft)
• Test automation and scripting (Python, LabVIEW)
• Test data analysis and failure mode diagnosis
• High voltage safety standards and procedures
• Instrumentation expertise (sensors, thermocouples, strain gauges)
• Cross-functional collaboration and technical documentation

Benefits

• Base salary $124,000–$216,000 USD
