About this role

Human Computer Lab, a robotics startup, seeks a manufacturing engineer to build the production process for LeLamp, an expressive consumer robot. You'll own the complete manufacturing arc—from supply chain and build line setup to quality testing and reliability—working closely with the founding team to scale from prototype to thousands of units.

What you'll do

  • Design and establish internal build lines for LeLamp assemblies, scaling from clean builds to small-batch and larger production
  • Manage supply chain by identifying vendors, negotiating lead times, and building supplier redundancy
  • Lead failure analysis, identify root causes, and coordinate fixes with engineering team
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure designs support manufacturability
  • Track production metrics and drive process improvements
  • Qualify and maintain vendors and assembly partners throughout production

What they're looking for

  • Manufacturing engineering and process design
  • Supply chain management and vendor qualification
  • Quality assurance and reliability testing
  • Experience with robotics or consumer electronics (servos, drones, cameras)
  • 3D CAD and PCB design interpretation
  • PCBA and injection molding DFM knowledge
  • Assembly method selection (manual and automated)
  • Manufacturing equipment specification and procurement
