About this role
Hunter Douglas seeks an Automation Projects Engineer to design and implement automated manufacturing systems across North American plants. You'll manage complex automation projects from concept through deployment, overseeing PLC programming, robotics integration, and cross-functional coordination while driving operational efficiency improvements.
What you'll do
- Design, program, and deploy PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, and industrial networks for new production lines
- Define project scope, technical specifications, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation for automation initiatives
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting cost, schedule, and performance targets
- Lead vendor selection, design reviews, factory acceptance tests, and system startup activities
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, IT, Quality, and Maintenance teams for seamless integration
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance cycle time and overall equipment effectiveness
