About this role

IEM seeks a Mechanical Engineer to maintain and improve medium voltage power distribution product lines, ensuring manufacturing accuracy and production readiness. This hands-on role focuses on resolving production issues, performing root cause analysis, and supporting continuous improvement while allowing design teams to concentrate on new orders.

What you'll do

  • Diagnose mechanical and assembly issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Develop 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings while maintaining mechanical design standards and documentation
  • Collaborate with production, quality, manufacturing, and electrical engineering teams to resolve issues
  • Support or lead MOL engineering projects with complexity appropriate to experience level
  • Identify recurring production issues and drive cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives
  • Act as technical resource for field issues, disruptions, and quality concerns

What they're looking for

  • SolidWorks and AutoCAD proficiency
  • Root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, tolerances, fasteners, and structural components
  • UL, CSA, and NEMA standards (UL 891/UL 1558)
  • FEA exposure or experience
  • DTO/custom engineering environment experience
  • Medium-voltage switchgear or power industry equipment knowledge
  • Peer review and technical documentation skills
