Platform Engineer

About this role

Instead, an AI-powered tax software platform, is seeking a Platform Engineer to design and own the infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling that enable fast shipping and reliable scaling. As the first dedicated platform hire, you'll work autonomously with engineering leadership to build systems that prioritize developer experience and operational excellence.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines enabling safe, rapid code-to-production deployments
• Own cloud infrastructure on AWS/GCP including provisioning, scaling, cost optimization, and security
• Build monitoring, alerting, and observability systems across the stack
• Develop internal tooling and automation to reduce friction in the development workflow
• Implement infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Pulumi, or similar tools
• Manage deployment strategies including blue-green deployments, canary releases, and rollbacks

• Platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure experience (5+ years)
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
• CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins)
• Infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation)
• Monitoring and observability platforms (Datadog, Grafana, PagerDuty)
• Scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Go)
• Production system operation and reliability
