About this role

Lead the design and ownership of enterprise-scale Ansible automation frameworks in a hybrid Columbia, MD role supporting government/defense environments. This is a technical leadership position for an experienced engineer who has architected automation ecosystems from the ground up, not a playbook execution role.

What you'll do

  • Architect and own enterprise-wide Ansible automation frameworks and scalable playbooks
  • Design modular role structures and establish best practices for configuration management and secrets handling
  • Integrate Ansible with CI/CD pipelines and automate system provisioning, patching, hardening, and compliance validation
  • Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, and DevOps teams to ensure compliance with frameworks like STIG and NIST
  • Troubleshoot and optimize automation workflows for performance and scalability across multi-environment infrastructures
  • Provide technical mentorship and maintain documentation and testing frameworks for automation assets
