Ansible Automation Systems Engineer
About this role
Lead the design and ownership of enterprise-scale Ansible automation frameworks in a hybrid Columbia, MD role supporting government/defense environments. This is a technical leadership position for an experienced engineer who has architected automation ecosystems from the ground up, not a playbook execution role.
What you'll do
- Architect and own enterprise-wide Ansible automation frameworks and scalable playbooks
- Design modular role structures and establish best practices for configuration management and secrets handling
- Integrate Ansible with CI/CD pipelines and automate system provisioning, patching, hardening, and compliance validation
- Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, and DevOps teams to ensure compliance with frameworks like STIG and NIST
- Troubleshoot and optimize automation workflows for performance and scalability across multi-environment infrastructures
- Provide technical mentorship and maintain documentation and testing frameworks for automation assets
