Silicon Photonic Engineer
About this role
Lumilens seeks an experienced Silicon Photonic Engineer to lead product development for next-generation optical interconnects, bridging customer needs with technical execution across silicon photonics design, packaging, and manufacturing. You'll own product requirements, drive cross-functional alignment, and guide packaged optics solutions from concept through validation in a fast-paced startup environment.
What you'll do
- Define and drive product requirements for optical interconnects, balancing performance, cost, manufacturability, and time-to-market
- Serve as primary technical interface with customers, foundries, and suppliers to align product decisions with real-world needs
- Lead packaged silicon photonics development including co-packaged optics, assembly tolerances, fiber attachment, and thermal constraints
- Perform optical link analysis and modeling to assess impairments and ensure robust system performance
- Define complete testing strategy from engineering verification through product validation and system integration
- Drive cross-functional alignment between silicon photonics, electronics, firmware, software, validation, and manufacturing teams
