Reliability Design Engineer - Motors, Mechanisms and Electronics

Menlo Park, CA$120k–$200kfulltimemidAdded 2 days ago

About this role

Matic is seeking a Reliability Design Engineer to build and operate test infrastructure that validates the performance and durability of their home cleaning robots before they reach customers. You'll design automated test rigs that stress motors, mechanisms, and electronics to failure, identify design weaknesses early, and scale the reliability lab as production ramps.

What you'll do

  • Design and fabricate electromechanical test rigs, fixtures, and automated setups that reproduce field failures and stress designs to breaking point
  • Build accelerated life, fatigue, vibration, shock, temperature, and humidity tests across motors, mechanisms, and electronics
  • Integrate actuators, motor drivers, sensors, and data acquisition systems to capture failure data
  • Write automation scripts for reliable, repeatable test execution and data logging at volume
  • Partner with reliability engineers to translate field insights into representative test methods and support root cause analysis
  • Maintain CAD models, drawings, and documentation while scaling the reliability lab with growing fleet demands

What they're looking for

  • Mechanical or electrical engineering design and prototyping
  • Electromechanical systems (actuators, motors, sensors)
  • CAD modeling and technical drawing
  • Accelerated life and fatigue testing methodologies
  • Motor drivers and data acquisition systems
  • Test automation scripting
  • Hands-on fabrication and troubleshooting
  • Cross-functional collaboration
