Manufacturing Engineer II, Testbeds & EGSE

San Jose, CA$202k–$223kfull-timemidAdded today

About this role

Muon Space seeks a Manufacturing Engineer II to own the procedures, documentation systems, and knowledge base for Hardware-In-The-Loop testbeds and electrical ground support equipment used across satellite missions. You'll combine electrical/embedded software expertise with hands-on hardware fluency to write and maintain assembly, test, and maintenance procedures, working closely with technicians on the manufacturing floor to ensure repeatability and clarity as the testbed infrastructure scales.

What you'll do

  • Own and administer the team's procedure and work-instruction system, including templates, standards, and release processes
  • Write assembly, checkout, and maintenance procedures for testbeds and EGSE by shadowing engineering builds and capturing steps at the source
  • Maintain and update existing procedures as designs evolve, driving redlines to closure
  • Structure and maintain the team's internal knowledge base as the authoritative reference
  • Keep testbed block diagrams and system documentation current across mission configurations
  • Manage HITL maintenance communications including downtime coordination and status updates to dependent teams

What they're looking for

  • Technical writing: clear, precise, and usable procedures
  • Electrical engineering or embedded software knowledge: reading schematics and block diagrams
  • Hands-on hardware assembly and basic test equipment operation
  • Documentation, PLM, or knowledge-base system administration
  • Cross-functional communication and coordination
  • Process improvement and design-for-assembly feedback
  • Linux development environment (nice-to-have)
  • Python scripting for automation (nice-to-have)

Benefits

  • Equity compensation
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401k retirement plan
  • Short and long-term disability and life insurance
  • Three weeks paid vacation for new employees, 12 paid holidays, unlimited sick time, and paid parental leave
