About this role
Northwood Space seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize production processes for satellite communications ground stations in Torrance, CA. You'll oversee hardware integration, design manufacturing tooling, and lead continuous improvement initiatives while partnering with engineering teams on design-for-manufacturability. This role requires a Top Secret Security Clearance and 5-day on-site commitment.
What you'll do
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for antenna systems, RF assemblies, and electronic integration
- Design tooling, fixtures, and assembly processes ensuring repeatability and reliability
- Partner with design teams on design-for-manufacturability and prototype-to-production transitions
- Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement to increase yield and reduce defects
- Evaluate and specify production equipment while conducting make-versus-buy trade studies
- Create work instructions, process documentation, and test setups for performance validation
