About this role
Northwood Space seeks a Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to support the design and implementation of data movement systems within a global ground station network infrastructure. You'll work on secure, scalable interfaces and distributed data pipelines that handle high-throughput satellite communications across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.
What you'll do
- Define secure and scalable interfaces for payload data transfer
- Design and implement data plane systems integrating on-premises and cloud environments
- Develop, test, and maintain data movement and processing pipelines for high-volume data
- Build observable, fault-tolerant systems meeting uptime requirements
- Gain hands-on experience with networking devices and protocols
- Collaborate with software, network, and FPGA engineers on hybrid network optimization
