Software Engineer, New Grad (AI)

About this role

Notion is hiring a New Grad AI Engineer to develop intelligent, AI-powered features using LLMs and embeddings. You'll work on one of three focus areas—AI product engineering, model systems, or evaluation frameworks—while shipping features that millions of users experience.

What you'll do

• Prototype and ship AI-powered product improvements alongside your team
• Own scoped productionization projects integrating new models or techniques into existing workflows
• Build evaluation frameworks and run experiments to measure and improve model quality
• Add monitoring, guardrails, and optimize latency/cost/reliability for AI features
• Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to translate insights into product changes
• Contribute to end-to-end AI feature development from UX to APIs to infrastructure

What they're looking for

• Programming proficiency in TypeScript, Python, React, or similar languages
• AI/ML fundamentals from coursework, projects, internships, or hackathons
• Full-stack product thinking (UI, APIs, databases)
• Problem-solving and breaking down ambiguous challenges
• Clear written and verbal communication
• Ability to learn in public and incorporate feedback
• User-focused mindset and impact orientation
• Familiarity with relational databases like Postgres or MySQL
